Annual Diversity and Intercultural Education Network (DIEN) conference hosted at Maynooth University by the Centre for Mental Health and Community Research
The SALaM Ireland research team, based in the Centre for Mental Health and Community Research, hosted the annual Diversity and Intercultural Education Network (DIEN) conference at Maynooth University on Saturday 5th April. The DIEN provides a platform for educators and researchers to exchange expertise and best practices aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion in Irish post-primary schools.
The SALaM Ireland findings were launched at the event (presented by Yvonne Leckey, Research Lead) which also featured a keynote delivered by Professor Sinéad McGilloway. Other presenters included Bernard Sweeney (TraVision), Baisat Alawiye (Maynooth University), and Eamon Aswad (University of Limerick) covering topics such as migration, Traveller history, minority teachers, and mental health within Muslim communities. Two Syrian students also attended on the day and shared their experiences of schooling in Ireland.
Conference received funding from the MU Network and Collaboration Support Fund and from QFI. Further information on the study and event can be found here: https://cmhcr.eu/salam/
